Full-Stack GCP & AppSheet Migration Developer (CRM Modernization)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full-Stack GCP & AppSheet Migration Developer (CRM Modernization) to stabilize our existing AppSheet/Google Sheets CRM while building its replacement: a custom web application hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you will act as the in-house GCP expert, design a scalable React + REST API stack, execute a full data migration from Google Sheets to a managed database (Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL or Datastore/Firestore), and ultimately decommission AppSheet.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM UK time with 1-hour unpaid break (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Support Current Platform: Maintain AppSheet apps (Admin, Sales Pipeline, Delegate Pipeline, Event Management); troubleshoot sync/performance bugs using Audit History, Google Sheets, and Apps Script; resolve data quality and schema drift issues.
• Build New Application: Design a React frontend and REST API (Python/FastAPI or Node.js) on Cloud Run; model data for events, companies, contacts, and delegates; rebuild AppSheet virtual columns and bots into tested backend code; integrate with Google SSO via Cloudflare Access.
• Own GCP Infrastructure: Deploy and manage GCP services (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL/Firestore, Cloud Storage, Secret Manager); enforce IAM least-privilege security; set up Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Cloud Build), Cloud Logging/Monitoring, and backup/PITR recovery; advise on cost optimization and database selection.
• Execute Database Migration & Decommissioning: Audit and clean ~30 linked Google Sheets tables; write repeatable extract-and-load (ETL) scripts; run dry-run reconciliations; lead production cutover and user transition to safely retire AppSheet.

Must-Have Requirements

• GCP Expertise: Deep, hands-on production experience with GCP (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL or Datastore/Firestore, IAM, Cloud Scheduler, Secret Manager, Cloud Logging). Google Cloud Professional certification is a strong plus.
• Full-Stack & Data Skills: 3+ years building business software (CRM, sales, or event systems); strong data modeling skills in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) and NoSQL; proficiency in Python or JS/TS (backend) and React (frontend).
• AppSheet & Integrations: Experience with (or fast-learner of) AppSheet, Google Sheets, and Apps Script; mastery of REST APIs, OAuth/SSO, and RBAC.
• DevOps & Delivery: Proficiency with Git workflows, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and reviewing/securing code generated with AI coding tools. Excellent user-facing communication skills to troubleshoot and explain technical issues in plain language.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Docker, and GitHub Actions or Cloud Build.
• Proven ETL/data migration experience transitioning complex spreadsheet workflows to production databases.
• Experience with Cloudflare Access/Pages, audit logging, data privacy compliance, or sponsorship sales workflows.

Success Metrics & Milestones

• 3 Months: AppSheet apps stabilized, full source data model documented, and GCP security/cost audit completed.
• 6 Months: Database architecture finalized; core API/UI slice deployed in production with migrated data running alongside AppSheet.
• 12 Months: Full user transition completed, AppSheet successfully retired, and complete documentation delivered for ongoing team maintenance.
