Centro Educativo Español de Nueva York (CENY) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to promoting Spanish language and culture among children and families in the New York area.

About the project

We are looking for a freelance Web Designer & Developer to redesign and modernize our existing WordPress website. Our current website contains the information and functionality we need, but we would like to improve its organization, appearance, navigation, and overall user experience.

The goal is to create a modern, welcoming, and easy-to-navigate website that clearly communicates CENY’s programs and makes it simple for current and prospective families to find important information.

Responsibilities

• Review our existing WordPress website and recommend improvements to its structure and navigation
• Redesign and modernize the overall appearance of the website
• Reorganize existing pages and content to make information easier to find
• Ensure the website works well across desktop and mobile devices
• Maintain and improve the existing Spanish and English website structure
• Preserve or appropriately integrate existing forms and important website functionality
• Work with CENY staff to incorporate feedback and revisions
• Complete the redesign and assist with launching the updated website
• Provide a basic handoff so CENY staff can make routine content updates

Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing WordPress websites
• Strong sense of web design, layout, and user experience
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly throughout the project
• Experience with nonprofit, educational, or bilingual websites is a plus
• Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required

Project details

This is a contract/freelance project with an anticipated initial scope of approximately 40 total hours. The project budget is approximately $1,200, with final scope and deliverables to be agreed upon before work begins.

There may be opportunities for additional paid website maintenance and updates following completion of the redesign.
