Duties

As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our immigration law team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting legal research and preparing supporting documentation
• Drafting and reviewing immigration-related forms and submissions
• Interviewing clients and witnesses to gather relevant information
• Managing and organizing case files, correspondence, and evidence
• Entering and maintaining accurate data in legal databases and client management systems
• Providing professional and courteous communication with clients, counsel, and government agencies
• Assisting with file preparation for hearings and applications before the RPD, RAD, and Federal Court

Mandatory Qualifications

Please note: Only applicants who meet the following mandatory criteria will be considered and contacted.

• Minimum 2+ years of experience working in immigration and/or refugee law at a law firm as an administrator or legal assistant
• Hands-on experience preparing and submitting applications before the Refugee Protection Division (RPD), Refugee Appeal Division (RAD), and Federal Court (FC)
• Proven experience with Canadian immigration applications, including work permits, study permits, visitor visas, and family sponsorships
• Experience using IRCC, CBSA, and other immigration-related online portals and systems

Additional Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Strong independence and ability to work without supervision
• Excellent legal drafting and writing skills
• High attention to detail and confidentiality in all matters
• Proficiency with CanLII or similar legal research tools
• Exceptional communication and phone etiquette
• Proficient in data entry, document management, and office software
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00-$25.00 per hour
