AWS Backend Developer

We are currently seeking a AWS Backend Developer to join our dynamic team and work with one of our client, a leading bank in Canada

Contract duration: 6 months with strong possibility of extension

Role type: Hybrid ( 2 days a week in office required - Toronto Downtown)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js .
• Develop, deploy, and manage serverless applications using AWS Lambda .
• Build secure, scalable, highly available, and production-ready backend services on AWS .
• Design and implement event-driven and cloud-native solutions using AWS SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway , and related services.
• Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code following modern software engineering practices.
• Integrate backend services with databases, external APIs, and other AWS services.
• Implement robust logging, monitoring, error handling, alerting, and automated testing.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, architecture decisions, and development best practices.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and product teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while continuously improving system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience with TypeScript — mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the Node.js ecosystem — mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services — mandatory.
• Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development — mandatory.
• Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services .
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and cloud-native application development.
• Experience working with databases such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL , or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, and API security .
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
• Strong understanding of clean code, SOLID principles, software engineering best practices, and code quality.
• Experience building and supporting production-grade applications in AWS environments .

Nice to Have

• Experience designing and implementing microservices and event-driven architectures .
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications .
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in banking, financial services, or fintech environments.
