Job Description

WHO WE ARE

J Paul Studio delivers exceptional window treatments, built to the design our customer agreed on, with clear communication and dates we keep. Our goal on every job is simple: make our customer look good. Our motto for our customers is: YOU DESIGN IT · WE CAN MAKE IT

THE ROLE

We’re hiring someone to own the full client journey from first inquiry to installation handoff: advising on custom window treatment options, quoting, and coordinating every job through to completion. This is a technical sales and coordination role: you’ll need real working knowledge of the product categories we build, not just a sales pitch about them.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across the full range of custom window treatments and to build and demonstrate real depth of knowledge, in a relationship-based industry, that expertise is what earns the trust of clients, designers, and builders and keeps them coming back.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Field inbound inquiries and advise clients across diverse product offerings: ***. Roller shades and Roman shades — manual and motorized. *** Concealed shade pockets and recessed track trim systems. *** Drapery and soft treatments of all kinds
  • Conduct on-site visits with potential clients to take accurate window measurements for the specific treatment type being proposed measurement requirements differ meaningfully across tracks, shade types, and soft treatments, so precision here matters. Will need to use measuring tape/device and ladders to take measurements.
  • Write and present detailed, accurate quotes reflecting the right product, mechanism, and configuration for each client’s space
  • Research custom or unusual product possibilities when a job doesn’t fit a standard configuration, with support from our experienced technical team, until you’re comfortable figuring it out alone
  • Own the job from quote through to install
  • Submit purchase orders and coordinate incoming materials
  • Track and coordinate payment for services
  • Flag issues before they become problems

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Working knowledge of window treatment products and mechanisms — roller/roman shades, motorization platforms, concealed pockets, track systems, drapery strongly preferred
  • We’ve also had real success with people from fashion design (an eye for cutting, sewing, and sizing translates directly) or engineering (comfort with specs, measurements, and technical detail)
  • Confident taking accurate on-site measurements: this is a hands-on, detail-critical part of the role
  • Resourceful with non-standard requests (you research a solution rather than defaulting to “that’s not something we do”). You can draw on in-house experts as well.
  • Naturally organized, a clear communicator, and someone who doesn’t let details slip
  • At ease with clients and closing sales, and equally strong on the operational side including POs, coordination, and follow-through
  • Valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel regularly to client sites across NYC, Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey
  • Bonus: experience with Zoho CRM or similar CRM/order-management tools

LOGISTICS

  • Office-based in Irvington, NY, with regular on-site client visits; this is not a remote role
  • Regular travel required within the NYC metro area, Long Island, CT, and NJ
  • Small, close-knit team where reputation and word-of-mouth genuinely matter
  • Technical support available from an experienced team; you won’t be expected to have every answer on day one, but you will need the aptitude to learn this product line in depth
