Opportunity Overview

Ready to build your career in PR and put your bilingual communications skills to work for brands and organizations making an impact?

Flowers Communications Group (FCG) is looking for a bilingual Assistant Account Executive (AAE) to join our Chicago team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career communications professional who is curious, culturally connected, a strong writer, and ready to learn the agency business through hands-on experience.

As an AAE, you’ll work alongside experienced PR and integrated marketing professionals to bring client stories to life. You’ll support media relations, develop communications materials, research emerging trends and opportunities, contribute to client programs, and help create culturally relevant communications for diverse audiences.

Your English/Spanish bilingual skills will be an important part of the role, supporting translation, adaptation, Spanish-language media relations, and communications designed to authentically connect with Hispanic/Latino audiences.

The AAE works with guidance from more senior team members while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and building toward greater independence and Account Executive-level capabilities.

  • Support the day-to-day execution of client accounts, programs, and communications initiatives.
  • Assist with client meetings, status reports, presentations, recaps, timelines, and follow-up.
  • Participate in client and internal meetings, capturing decisions, action items, and next steps.
  • Develop a strong understanding of assigned clients—their brands, audiences, business objectives, and communications priorities.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deadlines with strong organization, responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across PR, Strategy, Social/Influencer, Creative, Experiential, Project Management, and other agency teams.

Integrated Marketing & Program Support

  • Conduct research that helps inform client programs, communications strategies, presentations, and recommendations.
  • Participate in brainstorms and bring ideas, cultural insights, and emerging trends to the table.
  • Help ensure assigned work aligns with client objectives, audience insights, approved strategies, and brand standards.
  • Build an understanding of how PR and media relations connect with social, influencer, experiential, creative, and other marketing disciplines.
  • Support agency initiatives, new business opportunities, and special projects as needed.

Public Relations & Media Relations Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of PR and earned media campaigns that help tell compelling client stories.
  • Draft communications materials including media pitches, press releases, media alerts, talking points, briefing materials, presentations, and other content.

  • Build and maintain targeted media lists and support media outreach and follow-up.
  • Monitor news, cultural conversations, industry developments, and media coverage to identify opportunities relevant to clients.
  • Assist with coordinating interviews, press opportunities, media requests, and client events.
  • Track media coverage and contribute to client reports, campaign recaps, and measurement.
  • Begin building relationships with journalists and media contacts, including Chicago, multicultural, and Spanish-language media.
