Python Software Engineer – Application Maintenance, Debugging & Agile Development

**Job Summary** Synechron is seeking a Python Developer with experience in software development, maintenance, debugging, source control, and Agile or Waterfall delivery environments. The role contributes to the development and maintenance of software solutions by writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code across relevant technologies.The Python Developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support software upgrades, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to improvements in development processes and practices. The role supports business objectives by delivering reliable software solutions, improving maintainability, and evaluating technologies that align with organizational goals.

**Software Requirements** Required Software Skills

• Python: Practical experience developing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting software solutions using Python.
• Programming languages: Knowledge of a variety of programming languages, such as Java, Python, C#, or others, based on project requirements.
• Source control: Familiarity with source control systems such as Git, including version management, branching, merging, and code collaboration.
• Software development methodologies: Experience with Agile or Waterfall software development methodologies.
• Software development principles: Strong knowledge of coding standards, modular design, testing, debugging, documentation, maintainability, and scalability.
• Development versions: Experience working with the Python, programming language, source control, development framework, database, and associated tool versions used by the assigned Synechron project.
• Software maintenance: Experience supporting upgrades, enhancements, issue resolution, and the ongoing maintenance of existing software solutions.

**Preferred Software Skills**

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and infrastructure.
• Experience with automated testing, build, deployment, code-quality, or continuous integration tools.
• Experience with application monitoring, logging, performance analysis, or issue-tracking tools.
• Exposure to software architecture, application programming interfaces, databases, data structures, or integration technologies.
• Experience evaluating and recommending new technologies based on business objectives, technical suitability, maintainability, and delivery impact.

Equivalent technologies and tools may be considered where they provide comparable capabilities.

**Overall Responsibilities**

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions using Python and other relevant technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, readable, and testable code.
• Apply software development principles and practices throughout analysis, development, testing, release, and maintenance activities.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues with software solutions, identify root causes, and implement appropriate fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
• Assist in the maintenance, enhancement, modernization, and upgrade of existing software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to consistent coding, testing, documentation, and quality practices.
• Support the identification and resolution of technical risks, dependencies, defects, and delivery issues.
• Contribute to the improvement of software development processes, standards, and practices.
• Use source control systems to manage code changes and support collaborative development.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies that align with Synechron’s goals, project requirements, technical standards, and operational needs.
• Document application changes, technical decisions, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance procedures.
• Support sustainable software development by improving resource efficiency, reusing maintainable components, reducing unnecessary processing, and considering long-term supportability.
• Deliver assigned work in accordance with agreed requirements, quality standards, priorities, and timelines.
• Continue learning and adapt to new technologies, tools, development practices, and project requirements.
