AI Engineer

About the Role

SolarRun operates a custom-built PHP CRM supporting end-to-end solar business operations, including

lead management, sales, quoting, customer management, project management, installation workflows, reporting

and integrations with external systems.

We are investing in AI, intelligent automation and agentic workflows across the organisation. We are looking for a

hands-on Applied AI & Automation Engineer to work closely with our Product Manager, business teams and

existing PHP/Laravel developers to identify, prototype, build and productionise AI-powered solutions.

This role goes beyond chatbots. The successful candidate will develop AI agents and automated workflows across

Sales, Marketing, Lead Generation, Content, Customer Operations and our internal CRM - while having the

engineering judgement to recognise when conventional automation is more appropriate than AI.

What You Will Build

CRM & Operations

• AI-powered workflows inside our custom PHP/Laravel CRM.
• Intelligent processing of leads, customer information, project data, documents, emails and operational workflows.
• CRM assistants, information extraction/classification, project support, customer communications and internal

knowledge assistants.

Sales AI & Sales Training

• AI sales coaching and training agents.
• Role-play agents that simulate different customer scenarios and objections.
• Sales-call transcript analysis, summaries and CRM updates.
• Identification of objections, buying signals and recommended next actions.
• Personalised coaching feedback, sales knowledge assistants and performance insights.

Marketing AI Agents

• Campaign ideation, customer/market research and marketing briefs.
• Content generation, landing-page ideation, messaging variations and SEO/content workflows.
• Marketing knowledge retrieval, automated reporting, insights and optimisation workflows.
• Lead Generation & Qualification
• Lead enrichment, classification and qualification workflows.
• Intelligent routing, lead scoring and identification of high-intent opportunities.
• Automated follow-up and re-engagement of older leads.
• Conversational qualification and analysis of lead-source quality.
• Integrations between advertising platforms, websites and the CRM.
• Content Generation Systems
• Social media, blogs, landing pages, email campaigns, ad copy, sales collateral and customer communications.
• Brand-aware, controlled content workflows with evaluation and human review.
• Content repurposing, localisation and franchise-specific content at scale.
• Core Responsibilities
• Work with the Product Manager and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and determine whether each
• problem is best solved using conventional automation, predictive ML, generative AI, RAG, an AI agent, or a
• combination.
• Prototype and implement appropriate solutions and take successful proofs-of-concept toward reliable production
• deployment.
• Integrate Claude, OpenAI, Gemini and other LLMs through APIs.
• Build tool/function-calling and single/multi-step agentic workflows.
• Integrate AI services with the existing PHP/Laravel CRM using REST APIs, webhooks, authentication and
• structured JSON.
• Build workflow automations using n8n or similar orchestration platforms and custom code.
• Implement RAG, embeddings and vector search where appropriate.
• Design structured outputs, validation, guardrails, retries, fallbacks and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Create AI evaluation frameworks to measure quality, accuracy and reliability.
• Implement logging, observability, model/API cost tracking and failure handling.
• Address security, privacy and customer-data protection throughout the solution.
• Document architecture, APIs, prompts, workflows and technical decisions.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential Highly Desirable

Strong software engineering background

Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript
