THE SHORT VERSION

Better Way Roofing is looking for an experienced Project Manager to run residential roofing jobs (metal, shingle, or siding) across Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. If you know how to lead a crew, keep a job on schedule and on budget, and look a homeowner in the eye and tell them the truth, we want to talk to you.

We are not looking for someone to swing a hammer for us. We are looking for someone to own the job, start to finish.

WHO WE ARE

Better Way Roofing is a family owned roofing company based in Shipshewana, Indiana. Our crews have over a decade of experience installing metal and shingle roofs, with siding experience right behind it. We show up, do the job right, and stand behind our work. We are closed on Sunday. We work around church, weddings, and funerals for the people on our team, because we plan to be here in thirty years and we build our company the same way.

We are not the biggest roofing company in Northern Indiana. We intend to be the best one to work for, and the one every family in the area trusts by name.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

As a Project Manager, you’ll run about 125 roofs a year today, with that number growing as our systems mature. You’ll own five things on every job:

• Job Execution: Every job starts ready, runs tight, and finishes on schedule at the quality our name demands.

• Crew & Sub Leadership: Crews led, subs held to our standard, and the next crew lead developed on the job.

• Homeowner Experience: The family feels informed and respected from tear-off through final walkthrough. Concerns handled the same day.

• Margin & Materials: Always check material orders when picked up from the supplier or delivered to confirm color and quantities per the order, and note any differences for the back office or sales to address.

• Closeout: Punch cleared, site spotless, photos in, walkthrough signed, file complete within days, not weeks.

A WEEK IN THIS SEAT

• Daily: Onsite with the crew, with occasional walks or checks of sites from a day or two prior, with proper communication to homeowners every time. Clear blockers before they cost hours.

• Daily: Touch base with homeowners on active jobs, same-day response to any concern.

• Weekly: Production huddle with the Production Manager and fellow PMs.

• Weekly: Review job actuals against estimates, flag variances.

• Weekly: Work the closeout list to zero: punch, photos, walkthroughs, files.

This role is not a fit for a tools-first foreman who avoids paperwork and hard conversations, or a clipboard manager the crews don’t respect. Either one shows up fast in callbacks and closeout delays, and we’ll both know quickly it’s not the right seat.

• Done means done: punch, clean site, photos, signed walkthrough, complete file.

COMPENSATION & WHAT WE OFFER

• Base Salary: $40,000 per year

• Time Off: 1 week paid vacation after 1 year of employment

• Territory: Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan

• Schedule: Closed Sundays. We work around church, weddings, and funerals.
