Job Description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Executive Assistant - Head of Banking Europe and Americas, Corporate and Institutional Banking

This role keeps senior decision-making moving by protecting time, maintaining pace across a high volume of requests and ensuring priorities land well in a time-pressured environment. You’ll manage complex diaries, inboxes and travel while coordinating closely with partners across the Chief Operating Office and Communications for longer-term engagement planning. Success looks like clean execution, calm handling of shifting priorities and consistently well-prepared engagements where the Executive has what they need in advance.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In This Role You’ll

  • Act as a gatekeeper for the Executive, balancing accessibility with protection from unnecessary interruptions
  • Manage a high-volume inbox, responding where appropriate and escalating urgent items quickly
  • Oversee complex diary management, resolving scheduling conflicts and anticipating meeting requirements
  • Maintain a forward-looking calendar, freeing up time for key projects and initiatives
  • Coordinate long-term travel and engagement planning with the Chief Operating Office and Communications
  • Arrange complex travel itineraries, managing timing and cost within HSBC policies
  • Organise meetings end-to-end, collating papers and agendas and preparing briefing notes for key engagements
  • Handle delegated system approvals and transactions, maintaining confidentiality and strong attention to detail

To be successful in this role you’ll meet the following requirements:

  • It is essential to have substantial experience supporting ExCo Executives on a 1 to 1 basis
  • You MUST experience of working in a complex international, enterprise level (FTSE 250) organisation
  • Demonstrate strong diary and inbox management skills, including prioritising competing demands under pressure
  • Show established experience coordinating complex travel planning and booking
  • Apply excellent organisational and time management skills, using initiative to anticipate needs and resolve issues
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with senior stakeholders and partners across the business
  • Build effective working relationships across leadership teams and wider Executive Assistant networks
  • Navigate confidential information and delegated approvals with care and accuracy

Opening up a world of opportunity. Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
