Software Engineer

TITLE: Software Engineer (CDM – Customer Data Mart)

DEPARTMENT : Data Engineering

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Software Engineer, Data is responsible for the support of the customer marketing database and ensures marketing capabilities are enabled and leveraged with the customer database. This individual defines and implements business rules governing customer logic and campaign, analysis and customer behavior metadata for the Customer Data Mart. This role interacts with internal as well as external partners regarding design, usage and processes for customer data capture, storage, usage, and destruction.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Management & Architecture

• Customer Data Integration and Hygiene, standard calculations and deviations
• Defines and implements Customer Data Mart Business Rules governing individual and household logic, contact history management and analytics and segmentation metadata
• Ensures Victoria’s Secret is within compliance across related to legal and privacy guidelines related Customer Data usage, Customer Marketing activities and initiatives

Customer Data Support

• Responsible for specific recurrent reports and data extracts for business reporting and uses
• Prioritize, scope and develop data extracts and ad hoc report requests
• Provide complex customer data analysis
• Provide complex query support to data users
• Provide testing support for internal and external projects

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• Experience in development of relational databases
• Excellent communication skills: ability to provide clear and concise direction/feedback to external and internal stakeholders and the ability to influence others without authority
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake functionality and data sharing is a plus
• The ability to be flexible, work efficiently and accurately under pressure, and team across functions and levels is a necessity
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills, including math proficiency.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in a query tools (SQL, R, Python)
• Proficient in MS Excel (graphing, pivot tables, data manipulation, formulas, etc)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to translate technical issues into non-technical terms.
• Previous retail or direct marketing systems development experience a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3 to 5 years of experience in management and use of data warehouse
• 2+ years of experience in a direct marketing in a multi-channel business
• 2+ years of strong experience on Snowflake
