About Hexmodal Hexmodal builds smart devices and a simple software platform that help facilities teams automate routine compliance testing, monitoring, and documentation. Our technology helps teams spend less time on manual rounds and more time on the maintenance work that keeps buildings operating safely. Today, Hexmodal supports more than 180 health systems across 48 states.

The Role (also the Mission) We are looking for our first Internal Tools Lead to support the two developers working on that function and help empower our company with tools to achieve smooth and reliable manufacturing, delivery and subscription management workflows, provide analytics for business decisions and help empower AI enablement at the company.

You will be a team leader and make immediate impact through both the organization and technical management of the team, as well as contributing your own individual development work.

The internal tools team consists of managing and customizing our ERP and CRM , supporting our analytics developer in maintaining our data pipeline and dashboard, supporting integrations between disparate systems (Hubspot, Quickbooks, Hexmodal Application) as well as organizing our AI Enablement productivity tools.

The function is a key focus for Hexmodal, as we aim to scale our manufacturing and delivery process, the internal workflow productivity of our different business functions (Sales, Finance, etc), and guarantee data integrity between different systems, and informative , actionable dashboarding.

Given that you will be the first person in this role, you are passionate about laying a strong foundation of structure and organization for the development cycle, including roadmapping, demoing, testing and release. This role reports to our Head of Software and is based out of our NYC office 5 days a week.

• Provide a technical management process to the internal tools team.
• Align with the Head on Platform on a roadmap, and deliver the roadmap on schedule.
• Collaborate with team leads across the company to understand their pains, and engage with them on
• Proactively assess team, manager, and organizational development needs, make data-driven recommendations, and implement solutions.
• Roll up your sleeves to execute IC responsibilities on the higher difficulty tasks.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews that provide constructive feedback to the developers, mentoring their growth as engineers.
• Respond to bugs and issues in a timely and structured manner, keeping the affected users informed and updated.
• Guide accessible tools to structure AI enablement tools.

Competencies we are looking for in the right candidate:

• 5+ years of deep technical experience focused on backend development, with a strong product sense and flexibility in adopting new technologies and frameworks.
• Prior experience with development focused on internal stakeholders.
• Prior experience building complex sync pipelines between various sources-of-truth internal systems.
• Prior experience managing and scaling a technical team.
• Demonstrable HR expertise and understanding of all areas of HR from employee relations to labor laws, total rewards,

career pathing, organizational design, and talent management

• Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees of all levels in the organization
• Strong prioritization and project management skills
• Proven ability to design clear processes while remaining agile, showing flexibility in problem

solving

• A clear and effective communication style, to enable productive collaboration on feature design with the many stakeholder teams that will be needing support.
• Strong ability to see all sides of an issue, remain objective, and move to resolution, prioritizing iteration and speed.

Bonus Points: (Some nice to haves for this role)

• Past experience in building AI enablement workflows (Claude Skills, MCPs, internal context bases)
• Past experience with customizing Odoo (our ERP)
