Sr. Cloud DevOps Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the media industry, is seeking a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in cloud-native development, DevOps, and software engineering. In this role, you’ll drive the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance systems and infrastructure. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges in distributed systems, data management, and large-scale performance.

As a technical leader, you’ll write efficient, well-documented code, define robust architectural solutions, and mentor peers while staying on top of modern practices in cloud and software engineering.

Must Haves

• 5+ years of software development experience across multiple domains
• Strong background in distributed systems and data management
• Expert-level coding skills with attention to performance and efficiency
• Advanced proficiency in Python for backend and infrastructure development
• Solid DevOps experience: CI/CD, containerization (Docker), testing, and automation
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Networking, IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS)
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK)
• Experience collaborating with engineering, data, and product teams
• Ability to design scalable, reliable, and low-latency architectures
• Experience in code reviews and providing technical mentorship

Nice to Haves

• Proficiency in a statically typed language (TypeScript, Java, etc.)
• Knowledge of data architecture trade-offs (SQL vs NoSQL, partitioning, warehouses)
• Experience with low-level design (data structures, code organization)
• Awareness of modern trends in cloud engineering and data systems
• Passion for reusable components and platform-level improvements
