Job Description
Attorney and Other Legal Professionals (AI Training)
Latitude is seeking experienced legal professionals to join a 12-week AI training sprint as contract contributors for a Latitude client. In this role, you will apply your domain expertise to evaluate, annotate, and improve AI-generated responses related to legal research, contract analysis, and statutory and case law interpretation, and related subject matter. You will also design and build challenging, realistic tasks that mirror the complex work of your profession, complete with scenarios, supporting files, and grading rubrics, used to evaluate and improve AI systems. Your work directly shapes the accuracy and reliability of AI tools used by legal professionals every day.
This is not a traditional legal role, no client representation, no billable-hour targets, no court appearances. Instead, you will be helping build better AI by putting your knowledge to work in a structured, flexible, fully remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses to legal prompts for accuracy, clarity, and professional appropriateness
- Annotate and rank model outputs to guide AI training and improvement
- Write clear, expert-level answers to legal questions that serve as model training examples
- Flag errors, misconceptions, or ambiguous outputs and provide corrective guidance
- Propose, design, and build realistic tasks drawn from your own professional experience, including the scenario and prompt, realistic supporting input files, and a detailed rubric for grading AI performance
- Run your tasks against AI models and iterate based on expert reviewer feedback
- Follow detailed written instructions precisely, including document and upload format requirements
- Maintain consistent quality and throughput throughout the sprint engagement
Qualifications
- Demonstrated legal experience (litigation, corporate/transactional, compliance, or similar); does not need to be a currently practicing attorney
- J.D. and bar admission not required, though preferred, practical legal expertise matters more than credentials
- Strong written communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely
- Hands-on practitioner: you currently do (or recently did) this work at a detailed, individual-contributor level, not solely in a managerial capacity
- Careful reader of written instructions; receptive to feedback and revision cycles
- Baseline tech literacy: comfortable with cloud file tools (e.g., Google Workspace), managing browser profiles, downloading and installing desktop apps (e.g., Claude), and everyday file handling (e.g., converting between Excel and Google Sheets, zipping files for sharing)
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, self-directed environment
- Based in the United States
Position Details of the Role
- Type of role: Contract
- Schedule: Must be available 30-40 hours per week for 12 weeks but can work on your time
- Location: Remote
Compensation Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $195,000 to $260,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
Confidentiality
Latitude will not propose you to prospective clients without your prior consent. Candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
