Senior Gen AI Engineer

Our client is a Fortune 500 global technology company running a program of AI-driven implementations across its business. It is building out the engineering team behind that work and has three seats to fill.

This is a senior hands-on engineering role with a technical lead component. You will design AI applications and the architecture around them, write a meaningful share of the code yourself, and partner with an offshore development team through delivery.

The environment is Azure-centric and spans Python, Node.js and Salesforce, so this suits an engineer who is comfortable across the stack rather than a specialist in a single layer. This is applied AI in an enterprise setting, with the emphasis on production systems and sound engineering practice rather than research. It is a long-term engagement, expected to run 12 months or more.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and build AI applications in Python, from the architecture through to production code
• Own the technical design ahead of development: API contracts, high- and low-level designs, architecture reviews and the technical specifications the team builds from
• Build and deploy on Azure, including Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Web Apps and Azure AI services
• Develop on the Salesforce platform where AI capabilities need to be integrated into existing business processes
• Contribute across the Node.js, Angular and JavaScript application layers
• Use Databricks and Python ML libraries to put AI/ML capabilities into production
• Lead and coordinate an offshore development team: set direction, review code, give peer feedback and unblock delivery
• Design for scale, applying service-oriented architecture principles so solutions hold up as usage grows

Candidate Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with deep, hands-on Python, including its application frameworks
• Strong grasp of AI application design and architecture, with hands-on experience building with modern AI and Python tooling
• A track record of producing solution designs under SDLC best practice: API contracts, HLD/LLD, architecture reviews and technical specifications
• Solid experience with Azure Cloud, particularly Azure Functions, Blob Storage and Web Apps; Azure AI and Databricks experience is a strong plus
• Hands-on Salesforce (SFDC) development experience
• Working experience with Node.js, Angular (2+) and advanced JavaScript
• Strong understanding of SOA platforms and scalable architecture design
• Experience coordinating offshore teams while still contributing code, reviewing work and guiding developers
• A hands-on engineer first: this role suits someone who still wants to write code, not a manager or strategy-only architect
• Candidates must be based in the US; this is a fully remote role
