Job Description
• $70–$120 per hour
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• 20 or more hours a week, you choose when
Work on the cutting edge of AI inspection, on your own schedule, and get paid for the electronics quality expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real electronics quality experts. The teams building them need engineers who can create realistic inspection scenarios, judge how well the AI handles technical evidence, write the answer a quality professional would give, and explain exactly where the AI falls short. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of AI models understands manufacturing quality and inspection. This is that work, done remotely, around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Assess quality and industry-standard compliance in Gerber files using CAM tools to check manufacturability
• Use IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 criteria when inspecting assembled PCBs and wire harness builds
• Investigate SMT/AOI defects, including false calls, their root causes, and remediation options
• Evaluate counterfeit electronic parts and semiconductor package inspection results, then document your findings clearly
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $70–$120 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI inspection tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most electronics quality engineers will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping electronics quality and manufacturing, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• At least eight years of experience, all hands-on, electronics quality, CAM engineering or failure analysis
• Practical experience with PCB assembly, wire harnesses or semiconductor packaging, including such areas as AOI defect analysis, AS6081 screening, C-SAM, X-ray inspection, Gerber data, PCB CAM software, SMT processes or MIL-STD-883 procedures
• Clear written and verbal English to record technical findings and explain them
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $70–$120 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• 20 or more hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States
