Staff Software Engineer- Product

The Role

This is a senior individual contributor role focused on technical ownership, architecture, and hands-on product engineering. You will work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to solve complex problems, make architectural decisions, and ship reliable production systems.

You will remain deeply hands-on while influencing engineering direction across teams. The ideal candidate has built and scaled products in a startup or high-growth environment and is comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.

Technical Ownership & Leadership

• Own the architecture and technical direction of complex product areas from problem definition through production.

• Translate product and business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

• Drive technical design discussions and make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions.

• Raise engineering standards across code quality, testing, reliability, security, severability, and deployment.

• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving.

• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for simplification or automation.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to influence technical and product decisions.

• Lead complex initiatives from concept → development → production and ensure long-term ownership.

Requirements

• 4+ years of strong software engineering experience, with significant hands-on development experience.

• Strong expertise in Python and backend engineering.

• Proven experience building, scaling, and operating production-grade products.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure.

• Previous experience working in a startup or high-growth product environment.

• Demonstrated experience taking products or major features from idea to production.

• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, databases, distributed systems, scalability, and software architecture.

• Ability to independently own ambiguous and technically complex problems.

• Strong product mindset with the ability to balance engineering quality, customer needs, and speed of execution.
