Azure Platform Architect

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure

• Proven expertise in designing and deploying enterprise-grade solutions on Azure (e.g., Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure Landing Zones)

• Deep understanding of data platforms, analytics workloads, and cloud-native architecture patterns

• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep)

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions

• Strong grasp of security, compliance, governance, and identity management within Azure environments

• Proven ability to onboard users and teams to Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments in a secure and scalable manner

• Experience supporting enterprise data platforms leveraging Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Event Hub, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric

• Experience in hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments

• Proactive approach, relentlessness to get the job done, and high sense of urgency

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

• Experience designing and deploying Azure Databricks environments

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, or modern enterprise data platforms

• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization, FinOps practices, and Azure Cost Management

• Experience supporting large-scale analytics, AI/ML, and data engineering workloads on Azure

Job Description

A Fortune 50 client is looking for an Azure Platform Architect to join their Enterprise Data and Analytics Platform team and lead the design, governance, and onboarding of cloud-native data and analytics solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role is critical in shaping the future of the organization’s cloud infrastructure and enabling scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms that support global analytics and AI initiatives.

The Azure Platform Architect will serve as a trusted technical leader responsible for onboarding internal users onto Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings while ensuring security, compliance, scalability, and operational excellence. This individual will work closely with platform engineering, data engineering, security, analytics, and business stakeholders to drive adoption of enterprise cloud services and modern data capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, onboarding, and adoption of data and analytics workloads on Azure

• Serve as the primary Azure platform architect, guiding infrastructure design, governance, security, scalability, and operational best practices

• Provide technical leadership across platform engineering, data engineering, analytics, and cloud operations teams

• Design and implement enterprise Azure architectures leveraging services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, AKS, and Microsoft Fabric

• Define and enforce best practices for cloud architecture, security, identity management, scalability, resilience, and cost optimization

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to establish governance frameworks and access controls

• Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and recommend cloud innovation and modernization strategies

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Enterprise Data and Analytics Platform team

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define onboarding workflows, provisioning processes, role-based access controls, and automation strategies

• Develop and maintain architectural standards, reference patterns, and technical documentation

• Support migration efforts from legacy and on-premises platforms to Azure-native solutions

• Drive platform adoption and enablement by partnering with engineering teams and business stakeholders to ensure successful onboarding and operational success
