Senior Software Engineer

Role Description As a Senior Software Engineer at Future of Nation, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and core platform features that support our learning and mentoring experiences. You will collaborate with product managers, educators, and other engineers to translate educational needs into robust technical solutions, including APIs, data models, and integrations. Day-to-day, you will write clean, testable code, conduct code reviews, optimize performance, and ensure reliability and security of the platform. You will also mentor junior engineers, contribute to architecture decisions, and help improve engineering practices and development workflows. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bengaluru, with a mix of on-site collaboration and some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

• Strong foundations in Computer Science and Software Development, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Proficient in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or similar).
• Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, building and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and database-driven applications.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, version control (Git), and modern development workflows (CI/CD, testing frameworks).
• Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures for cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives; prior work in edtech or impact-focused organizations is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
