Product Designer, eCommerce Services Design

Our client, a leading global ecommerce marketplace, is seeking a Product Designer to support their Seller Financial Services team on an ongoing freelance basis. This is a hands-on design role focused on creating intuitive, trustworthy, and scalable financial product experiences for sellers across web and native platforms. The ideal candidate is a senior-level product designer with deep expertise in interaction design, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration, and is comfortable navigating complex, multi-sided ecosystems with ambiguity and confidence. This is a remote opportunity, ideally near a major office hub.

• This is an ongoing remote freelance assignment. Pay Rate: $65-75/hour

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design of seller-facing financial services experiences, with a strong focus on how sellers manage and interact with their business on the platform.
• Translate complex product and business challenges into clear interaction models, user flows, and polished designs across web and native surfaces, including AI-assisted solutions and tools.
• Design for a multi-sided ecosystem, balancing the needs of buyers, sellers, and internal stakeholders while keeping customer value at the center of every decision.
• Produce high-quality wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs, using storytelling and prototyping to build alignment and bring ideas to life.
• Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, content designers, and other designers to shape strategy, explore concepts, and drive execution.
• Contribute to scalable design frameworks, patterns, and systems that improve consistency and quality across the product.
• Bring a strong point of view to ambiguous, fast-moving problems while remaining open to feedback, iteration, and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

• 8-10+ years of professional product design experience with a track record of shipping high-quality digital experiences.
• Deep expertise in interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and systems thinking across desktop and mobile platforms.
• Experience in AI product development, conversational design principles, and interaction design patterns for AI-assisted features.
• Advanced Figma proficiency and mastery of modern prototyping tools, with a portfolio demonstrating both craft and strategic thinking.
• Fluency with AI-powered design tools and workflows, using them to accelerate exploration and iteration without sacrificing quality.
• Experience designing for complex ecosystems or multi-sided products, ideally within ecommerce, marketplaces, creator tools, or community platforms.
• Proven ability to simplify ambiguity, frame problems clearly, and create alignment across product, user, and business needs.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence decisions across product, engineering, research, content, and design leadership.
• Solid understanding of how to use and evolve design systems to create consistent, scalable experiences.
• Clear communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain rationale, surface tradeoffs, and connect design decisions to measurable outcomes.
• Inclusive, collaborative working style grounded in curiosity, feedback, and a growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with live commerce, livestreaming, auctions, collectibles, or enthusiast-driven marketplace environments.
• Background designing products that blend commerce with social, community, or content experiences.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
