Mobile Developer - React Native

Rugged Riders is looking for a Mobile Developer to help build and grow RuggedNavigator, our rider-facing app for the off-road ATV and trail community. You’ll work closely with our small product team to ship features that get riders onto trails safely and keep them connected out there.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of core features in our React Native / Expo app, working across the stack from UI to Firebase-backed data layers. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who’s comfortable debugging tricky issues in a live mobile app and who enjoys shipping polished, reliable software.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with React Native for building cross-platform mobile applications
• Hands-on experience with Expo and the Expo workflow
• Proficiency in TypeScript
• Experience with Firebase, including Firestore
• Strong debugging skills — comfortable diagnosing issues across the app, native layers, and backend integrations

Nice to Have

• Experience with Bitbucket for version control
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Mapping experience (MapLibre, Mapbox, or similar)
• Experience taking a cross-platform app through to release (App Store / Google Play)
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Familiarity with JIRA
• UI/design sensibility and experience building polished interfaces
• Web development experience
• ATV/UTV off road riding experience

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain features in RuggedNavigator, our React Native/Expo rider app
• Work with Firebase/Firestore for data storage, sync, and real-time features
• Debug and resolve issues across the app to keep the rider experience smooth and reliable
• Collaborate with the product and admin-side (RuggedAdmin) teams to ship connected features
• Contribute to release processes and, ideally, CI/CD improvements over time

Pay: $89,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
