Senior AI Engineer / Architect

About the Role

Lemon.io is seeking experienced Senior AI Engineers and Architects for remote opportunities with startups across the United States and Europe. These roles involve applying artificial intelligence to practical technology solutions, designing AI-powered applications and architectures, and working directly with clients in fast-paced startup environments.

Depending on the role, responsibilities and technical requirements may focus on AI engineering, AI agent architecture, or AI automation architecture. Successful candidates should be technically strong, self-organized, adaptable, comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision, and able to communicate effectively with technical clients.

Key Responsibilities

* Apply AI technologies to practical technology solutions and production-oriented projects.

* Design and build AI projects and applications from scratch.

* Develop and work with AI application architectures.

* Build solutions using Python and other AI-related programming languages where applicable.

* Work with vector databases such as Pinecone or Weaviate.

* Develop applications using LangChain, LLMs, vLLMs, RAG, and OpenAI technologies.

* Design multi-agent systems and AI agent orchestration solutions.

* Work with AI telemetry where applicable to AI Agent Architect projects.

* Develop workflow automation and webhook-based solutions.

* Integrate AI APIs and automation platforms.

* Work with SQL and automation platforms such as Make.com, n8n, or Zapier where applicable.

* Communicate directly with clients regarding technical requirements, decisions, issues, and project progress.

* Justify technical decisions and communicate business and technical requirements clearly.

* Onboard to projects promptly and begin delivering results quickly.

* Work effectively in a full-time remote environment with minimal supervision.

* Adapt to changing project requirements and startup environments.

Required Qualifications

AI Engineer

* 3+ years of commercial experience applying AI to practical technology solutions.

* Solid understanding of Python.

* Experience with vector databases, including Pinecone or Weaviate.

* 2+ years of experience with LangChain.

* 2+ years of experience with large language models (LLMs) or vLLMs.

* 2+ years of experience with RAG or OpenAI.

AI Agent Architect

* 3+ years of experience with Python.

* 3+ years of experience with LLMs.

* Experience with multi-agent systems architecture, AI agent orchestration, and AI telemetry.

AI Automation Architect

* 1+ year of experience with workflow automation and webhooks.

* 3+ years of experience with SQL.

* Familiarity with AI API integration and Claude Cowork.

* Knowledge of Make.com, n8n, or Zapier.

Senior AI Engineer / Architect

* Strong technical skills and a deep understanding of application architecture.

* Ability to create projects from scratch.

* Advanced English communication skills for discussing business tasks, justifying decisions, and communicating issues.

* Ability to work full-time remotely with minimal supervision.

* Strong reliability and ownership.

* Adaptability and flexibility to onboard projects promptly and deliver results quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with programming languages commonly used in AI beyond Python.

* Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.

* Experience communicating directly with technically experienced clients.

* Experience working asynchronously or with limited overlap with team working hours.
