Job Description

Hyperscale Principal Network Operations Engineer

Location: Remote in US with 50-70% travel

Compensation: $225,000–$270,000

Position Summary:

Client exists to make humanity more free by accelerating the development of aligned AI.

The company is focused on delivering 10s to 100s of gigawatts of compute faster than anyone else while acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and operating them through integrated hardware and software teams.

The Data Center Operations team operates infrastructure at national scale, runs sites while they are still being built, and creates the operational playbooks and standards needed to scale the organization by 100x.

Role Scope:

Serve as the most senior technical authority for operational network infrastructure across Client’s hyperscale AI data-center portfolio, including switches, routers, cabling, copper, fiber, and optics.

Lead site assessments, operational audits, and technical-readiness efforts before site activation.

Review network platforms and integration designs from an operational perspective and provide feedback to network engineering, deployment, and supply-chain teams.

Author, approve, and execute high-risk network MOPs and change records in live production.

Lead fleet-wide root-cause analysis for significant network disruptions through closure.

Hold OEMs, ODMs, and service vendors accountable to operational standards, including RMA and integration processes.

Serve as a technical connector across network operations, network engineering, compute operations, facilities, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.

Travel approximately 50%–75% across the data-center fleet.

Key Requirements:

Career experience operating mission-critical network topologies at scale, with significant experience serving as the senior technical authority for a site, campus, or fleet.

Experience with IP network operations and optical networking.

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols, including OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, and MPLS.

Experience supporting the physical network infrastructure, including switches, routers, cabling, optics, and related hardware.

Experience authoring and executing high-risk network MOPs and leading root-cause analysis for significant network events.

Ability to hold OEMs, ODMs, and deployment partners accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.

Strong written communication skills, including health assessments, RCAs, and design feedback.

Ability to teach and improve the technical readiness of surrounding teams.

Preferred experience with hyperscale or large HPC fleets supporting thousands of endpoints.

Preferred Linux, hardware-management tooling, new-site commissioning, and fleet-scale scripting experience.

How Client Operate:

Be a barrel: Operate with full autonomy and own work end to end.

Insane urgency: Move quickly and maintain momentum.

Reason from first principles: Challenge assumptions and prioritize the best idea.

Love of the game: Bring intensity and enthusiasm to the frontier of AI infrastructure.

Build something that actually matters: Contribute to infrastructure with global impact.

Additional Notes:

Remote role with heavy travel across different data-center sites—expected to be north of 50% and potentially closer to 70%.

Candidates should have experience overseeing large-capacity, hyperscale data-center or HPC environments.

The role is field-based and focused on improving network operations across client’s data-center fleet.

Client hires people who care deeply about the future of AI and the infrastructure required to support it.

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive total compensation package, including salary and equity.

Retirement or pension plan, based on local norms.

Health, dental, and vision insurance.

Generous PTO policy, based on local norms.
