Job Description
BoardWise is expanding its network of independent attorneys who help licensed professionals navigate issues that could affect their careers. We welcome attorneys interested in providing focused consultations and clearly defined legal services without committing to a set schedule or ongoing caseload.
Our platform helps professionals understand licensing-board processes and organize their responses. When someone needs individualized legal advice, participating attorneys may have opportunities to work directly with that person under a separate attorney-client engagement.
How participation works
You choose which prospective matters to consider and whether to accept them. Depending on your experience and availability, an engagement might involve a consultation about a board notice, feedback on a proposed response, or advice concerning a pending agreement.
You handle client intake, conflict checks, and the engagement agreement. You and the client establish the services, fees, timing, and boundaries of representation before work begins.
This opportunity is for participation in an independent attorney network. It is not salaried employment, and there is no guaranteed workload or minimum number of referrals.
Examples of client needs
- Understanding a licensing-board inquiry, complaint, or investigation
- Assessing a draft response and recommending changes
- Evaluating supporting documents for relevant issues or omissions
- Discussing self-reporting questions, response obligations, and deadlines
- Reviewing proposed consent agreements, settlement terms, or corrective-action plans
- Determining when a matter requires more extensive representation
Attorneys retain independent professional judgment and decide whether limited-scope assistance is appropriate for each client.
Who we’re looking for
Applicants should have:
- An active law license in good standing in the jurisdiction where services will be provided
- Current professional liability insurance
- Relevant experience in professional licensing, administrative proceedings, regulatory enforcement, healthcare law, or a closely related practice
- Strong analytical, drafting, and client communication skills
- An established process for conflict screening, client onboarding, and confidential remote communication
Experience representing nurses, therapists, physicians, or other licensed professionals before regulatory agencies is particularly relevant.
We value attorneys who can explain complicated issues clearly and work respectfully with people facing stressful and potentially career-altering circumstances.
Fees and professional independence
Compensation is established directly between the attorney and client for each accepted engagement. Applicants may propose fixed fees for defined services or hourly arrangements, as appropriate.
Clients pay their attorneys directly through the designated payment process. Each attorney remains responsible for representation, confidentiality, professional obligations, applicable trust-account requirements, taxes, and insurance. BoardWise does not control legal advice or professional judgment.
Express your interest
Please provide:
- Your résumé or professional biography
- Your licensing jurisdiction(s) and bar number(s)
- A short overview of relevant matters you have handled
- The services and types of clients you would consider
- Your availability and usual turnaround times
- Your customary rates or fixed-fee ranges
- Confirmation of professional liability coverage
Selected applicants may be invited to an introductory conversation about their practice and potential network participation.
Joining the network does not establish an employment, partnership, or agency relationship or guarantee client engagements.
