Agentic AI Engineer – Process Automation & Lab-in-a-Loop

Job Title: Agentic AI Engineer – Process Automation & Lab-in-a-Loop Role Overview: We are seeking a specialized Agentic AI Engineer to lead the software and AI architecture for our next-generation Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutical Sciences automation initiative. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and scaling autonomous AI agents that bridge the gap between large language models (LLMs) and physical laboratory hardware. Your ultimate mandate is to build our “Lab-in-a-Loop” infrastructure—a closed-loop system where AI agents autonomously plan experiments, trigger lab automation hardware to execute them, analyze the resulting analytical data, and iteratively optimize experiment parameters. Key Responsibilities

● Agent Development: Design and deploy multi-agent systems that can reason through process chemistry and formulation workflows, plan experimental matrices, and execute tool calls.

● Hardware Integration: Build the software bridges (APIs, middleware) that allow AI agents to securely command lab automation equipment (e.g., liquid handlers, automated reactors, flow chemistry systems) and analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, NMR).

● Closed-Loop Architecture: Architect the overarching “Lab-in-a-Loop” pipeline, ensuring seamless data flow from automated synthesis to data parsing, model updating, and next-step prediction.

● Domain Translation: Partner closely with chemists to translate physical chemistry logic, safety constraints, and optimization goals into strict, safe agentic workflows.

● Data Pipeline Engineering: Ensure all agent actions and experimental results are cleanly logged in our data repository for future model fine-tuning and compliance. Required Skills & Qualifications

● AI/ML & Agent Frameworks: Deep expertise with LLMs, prompt engineering, tool calling (function calling), and agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, LangGraph).

● Software Engineering: Advanced proficiency in Python. Experience building robust APIs (FastAPI/Flask) and event-driven architectures.

● Automation & Integration: Experience writing drivers or integrating software with physical hardware, robotics, or IoT systems (experience with PyLabRobot, ROS, or specific lab hardware is a major plus).

● Safety & Guardrails: Proven ability to implement strict deterministic guardrails on probabilistic AI systems to ensure safe physical execution

Pay: ₹50.00 - ₹55.00 per hour
