About Thatcher Foundations

For 80 years, Thatcher Foundations has been shaping the ground beneath some of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks. As a specialty contractor in deep foundations, earth retention, and marine construction, Thatcher combines deep foundation engineering expertise with hands-on craftsmanship to solve complex geo-structural challenges across Chicagoland area and beyond.

What sets Thatcher apart isn’t just the work, it’s the people. The organization is built on a close-knit, collaborative culture where employees are known and valued, not just another name on a roster. That commitment to its people shows: many team members have built long, 20 to 30 year careers with the company, a strong signal of the trust and stability Thatcher offers.

Thatcher’s leadership and key personnel bring deep technical expertise to every project, which has driven innovative design-build solutions and specialized equipment developed in house.
