Software Engineer – AI, Manufacturing & Defense Technology

We are working with an exciting US defense and industrial technology company who are expanding their team with two further Software Engineers following a recent $15m investment round.

We are keen to speak with strong software engineers who also have a genuine passion for robotics, embedded engineering, manufacturing or other real-world technologies, and who want to help solve some of America’s toughest industrial challenges.

You will take genuine ownership of products and features, working from initial requirements through to implementation, testing and deployment. This is a broad role for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, working across different parts of the stack and seeing their software have a tangible impact in the physical world.

The technical environment includes:

• Python
• TypeScript and React
• PostgreSQL
• AWS
• Applied AI and ML

The client is open on programming language and more interested in strong engineering fundamentals and what you have personally built.

We are looking for:

• Typically 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience
• A core software engineering background across any of: backend, full-stack, data or applied ML
• Clear evidence of personally building, owning and shipping meaningful software
• Experience within a high-bar technology company or strong VC-backed startup
• Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals
• The ability to work independently and take ownership within an early-stage environment
• A genuine interest in defense, robotics, manufacturing, embedded engineering or software connected to the physical world
• A strong academic or equivalent technical background

Experience as a Teaching Assistant in a demanding subject such as mathematics, physics, algorithms or computer science would be a strong advantage. Any direct experience across manufacturing, robotics, embedded systems or hardware-adjacent software would also be highly relevant, although it is not essential.

Please note:

The position is based onsite in Manhattan five days per week, with some travel to other sites across the US. Due to the nature of the client’s business, candidates must be US citizens or Green Card holders .

The package includes a base salary of $200,000–$250,000 plus equity options.
