The role

Senior Backend Engineer blending AI backend engineering and human bioinformatics to design and build production AI systems that reason over whole genome our client data. The role involves building distributed services, genomic reasoning engines, retrieval systems, and high-performance data platforms to enable accurate, explainable genomic AI.

What you’ll do

• Design and build production AI systems, distributed backend services, and genomic reasoning engines
• Develop retrieval systems and data platforms combining bioinformatics with modern AI
• Serve as the bioinformatics expert on the AI Team to shape genomic knowledge representation and validation
• Design high-performance data models, indexing strategies, and storage across PostgreSQL, Qdrant, Redis, DuckDB, and Apache Spark
• Develop guardrails and deterministic reasoning layers to ensure scientifically accurate AI responses
• Collaborate with Senior Backend Engineers and the Bioinformatics team to integrate annotations and interpretation logic
