This is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a strategic growth initiative. As one of the first engineers supporting this new capability, you’ll play a key role in developing ball screw products, establishing engineering processes, and helping build a long-term technical organization that will support customers across industrial, aerospace, defense, and space applications. This role offers significant visibility, technical ownership, and future growth potential as the organization expands.
To be considered for Staff Design Engineer, here’s what you’ll typically bring with you:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Seven (7) or more years of engineering experience in product design, mechanical design, or related engineering fields
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software and engineering drawing development
- Experience creating detailed product documentation, drawings, and technical specifications
It’s preferred if you bring:
- Experience designing ball screws, roller screws, power transmission products, or precision mechanical motion systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with ERP systems, configuration management, and engineering change processes
- Exposure to aerospace, defense, industrial machinery, or motion control products
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple disciplines
As Staff Design Engineer, you will:
- Design ball screw assemblies and components based on customer specifications and engineering requirements
- Develop product layouts, 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation
- Support new product development as well as engineering changes for existing products
- Create and maintain product definitions, bills of materials, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with manufacturing, industrial engineering, and operations teams to ensure designs are optimized for production
- Support the design of manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and process improvements
- Participate in design reviews, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as a technical resource for engineering systems and ERP processes relevant to product design and documentation
- Work closely with global engineering partners to help establish and standardize Moog’s U.S. ball screw design capability
- Contribute to the development of engineering best practices and help build a strong foundation for future organizational growth
