User Interface Designer

Role Description This is a remote internship role for a User Interface Designer at Future of Nation. The intern will contribute to designing intuitive and visually engaging interfaces for web and mobile experiences, aligned with the organization’s educational mission. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating low- to high-fidelity wireframes and mockups, collaborating with product, content, and engineering teams to refine user flows, and translating requirements into user-centered interface designs. The intern will support user experience improvements by iterating on layouts, typography, color, and components based on feedback and basic usability principles. Additional tasks may include preparing design assets for front-end implementation, maintaining design consistency across products, and documenting design guidelines in collaboration with the broader design team.

Qualifications

• Strong User Interface Design and Visual Design skills, with an eye for layout, color, typography, and component consistency.
• Ability to create clear wireframes and Mockups that communicate interaction patterns and page structure.
• Basic understanding of User Experience (UX) principles, user flows, and information architecture for educational or product interfaces.
• Familiarity with Front-End Development concepts (e.g., HTML, CSS, responsive design) to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
• Experience using modern design tools (such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD) and maintaining organized design files.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or certification in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and the ability to collaborate in a remote, cross-functional environment.
• Interest in education, social impact, and building products that support skill development for students is highly desirable.
