Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly analytical, technology-forward FP&A Manager to strengthen financial planning, business performance analysis, and executive decision-making — and to help transform how Finance uses AI, automation, and data. This role owns core FP&A: budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, KPI reporting, and variance analysis. But it is not a traditional, reporting-focused seat — we are looking for someone who uses AI naturally in their work, digs beneath headline numbers, and turns complex analysis into a clear story and recommendation for senior leadership.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the ideal candidate pairs strong financial fundamentals with modern analytical firepower — comfortable with large, imperfect datasets, fluent in AI and BI tools, and always looking for better ways to help the business make decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Build and maintain financial models covering revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount, profitability, and cash flow.
- Perform monthly budget-to-actual and forecast variance analysis, identifying the business drivers behind performance rather than simply reporting variances.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to support major business decisions.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure management reporting is accurate and aligned with financial results.
Business Performance & Decision Support
- Partner with department leaders to understand performance, costs, opportunities, and risks.
- Analyze business performance across channels, customers, products, departments, and initiatives.
- Develop ROI and productivity frameworks that connect investment and headcount to measurable outcomes.
- Evaluate business cases for new investments, hires, projects, and growth opportunities.
- Turn analysis into clear recommendations and actions for management.
Executive Analytics & Storytelling
- Develop concise, decision-oriented reporting for the CFO, CEO, and senior leadership.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into clear insights and business narratives.
- Build executive dashboards and recurring KPI reporting.
- Surface trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities not obvious from standard financial reporting.
- Consistently answer three questions: what happened, why it happened, and what we should do about it.
AI, Automation & Data Analytics
- Use generative AI and analytical tools as part of the day-to-day FP&A workflow — accelerating analysis, variance investigation, forecasting, data reconciliation, and reporting.
- Build repeatable AI-enabled workflows and, where appropriate, lightweight agents that automate recurring Finance activities.
- Work across ERP, CRM, expense, payroll, sales, and inventory datasets, combining financial and operational data for a fuller view of performance.
- Build dashboards and models using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, or Python, validating data quality along the way.
- Partner with IT/Data teams to improve data access, identify manual processes to automate, and establish best practices for responsible AI use in Finance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 5–8 years in FP&A, corporate finance, strategic finance, consulting, investment banking, or a related analytical role.
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance-analysis skills, with advanced Excel.
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and core financial concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into business insights.
- Experience with BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau); working knowledge of SQL and/or Python a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency using modern AI/LLM tools for financial analysis, research, automation, or data analysis; exposure to AI-enabled workflows, automations, or agents a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central/NAV a plus.
- Experience in consumer products, wholesale, retail, manufacturing, or e-commerce preferred.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- AI-native: uses AI naturally and actively experiments with new tools and approaches.
- Financially strong: understands FP&A fundamentals and can build rigorous financial models.
