Firebase Backend Developer Intern (Remote)

We are looking for a highly motivated Firebase Backend Developer Intern to join our team in a 100% Work From Home (WFH) setup. This role is purpose-built for freshers, self-taught coders, and recent graduates who want hands-on experience building scalable, real-time backend systems.

This is a high-growth opportunity starting as a 3-month unpaid internship. Upon successful completion and evaluation of your performance, you will be converted into a full-time paid role.

Key Responsibilities

Serverless Backend Engineering: Develop, deploy, and maintain highly scalable backend APIs using Node.js and Firebase Cloud Functions.

Database Architecture & Management: Structure, query, and optimize NoSQL databases leveraging Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Realtime Database.

Security & Authentication Implementation: Implement Firebase Authentication (OAuth, JWT, OTP) and author granular Firestore Security Rules to ensure bulletproof data protection.

Seamless API Integrations: Interface backend logic with third-party REST APIs, webhooks, and cloud storage triggers.

Testing & Optimization: Utilize the Firebase Local Emulator Suite and Postman to debug, monitor performance, and ensure application reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with frontend developers and UI/UX teams to deliver smooth, scalable, and responsive application functionality.

What We Are Looking For

Core Technical Skills: Hands-on exposure to the Firebase Core Suite (Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Auth, and Storage).

Programming Proficiency: Strong command over modern JavaScript (ES6+) or TypeScript, alongside Node.js fundamentals (async/await, Event Loop).

Database Knowledge: Solid grasp of NoSQL data modeling, document structuring, and RESTful API principles.

Developer Workflows: Familiarity with version control using Git / GitHub, alongside an understanding of Agile methodologies.

Portfolio & Passion: At least 1–2 live or accessible GitHub projects demonstrating practical backend integration with Firebase (e.g., real-time sync, auth flows, or serverless APIs).

Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, high curiosity, proactive communication, and the discipline to thrive in a remote work environment.
