Job Description
Web Designer (Volunteer) — Evergreen Movement
Evergreen Movement Remote Volunteer 5–10 hrs/weekAbout Us
The Evergreen Movement is a Massachusetts-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working at the intersection of environmental education, policy advocacy, and community organizing. We believe systemic change is possible — and we’re building the tools to make it real.
Our flagship project is the People’s Compact — a seven-bill federal legislative package addressing environmental justice, housing, mental health, addiction, campaign finance reform, and more. We’re also building a complete middle school environmental curriculum and growing a national network of volunteers and partner organizations.
We’re a young organization with a big vision. We just received our 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS, and we’re ready to build our public presence.
The Role
We’re looking for a Web Designer to help us launch our full website. Our current site is a simple “coming soon” page — we need someone who can turn it into a professional, functional home for our movement.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and build our primary website (evergreenmovement.org)
- Create a clean, modern, mobile-responsive layout
- Build pages for: About, The People’s Compact, Curriculum, Get Involved, Donate
- Set up a donation button (we’re 501(c)(3) approved — donors can give tax-deductible gifts)
- Integrate a volunteer sign-up form
- Ensure accessibility and fast load times
- Work with our Community Engagement volunteer on branding and visual identity
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience with web design (portfolio or examples required)
- Proficiency with a website builder (Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, or similar)
- Comfortable working remotely and independently
- Interest in environmental or social justice issues
- Bonus: familiarity with nonprofit websites or donation platforms
Time Commitment: 5–10 hours/week, flexible
Location: Fully remote
Compensation: This is a volunteer role. We are pursuing microgrants to offer a stipend for this position, and we’ll discuss that with the right candidate.
