About Jean Dousset
Jean Dousset is a designer lab diamond and fine jewelry brand redefining modern luxury. As the direct descendant of Louis Cartier and the designer behind iconic celebrity engagement rings worn by Paris Hilton, Amy Adams, and Eva Longoria, Jean Dousset brings a unique heritage and design pedigree to the evolving world of lab-grown diamonds.
Our imagery is how that design work reaches the world. We are looking for a freelance photographer to produce it.
Engagement Summary
We are engaging an independent photographer to style, shoot, and deliver jewelry imagery from our Long Island City studio on a recurring project basis. The work combines studio capture with AI-assisted post-production, using generative and enhancement tooling to extend what comes out of the camera into retouched finals, alternate backgrounds, upscaled crops, and channel variants.
This is a deliverables-based engagement. You control your own methods, tools, and working hours within agreed shoot dates and delivery deadlines. The camera work remains the foundation, and every enhanced image must represent the physical piece accurately.
Scope of Work
Capture & Styling
- Style and photograph Jean Dousset jewelry at the Long Island City studio on agreed shoot dates
- Produce product imagery across engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewelry, working in macro and detail photography
- Determine lighting, staging, props, and surfaces to achieve the agreed creative brief and brand standard
- Prepare pieces for capture, including cleaning, polishing, and positioning to eliminate dust, fingerprints, and reflection artifacts
AI-Assisted Post-Production
- Deliver retouched, color-corrected finals using the editing and generative tools of your choice, subject to the confidentiality terms below
- Produce channel variants at scale for e-commerce, social, email, and paid media from a smaller set of core captures
- Apply consistent treatment so output remains uniform across a collection and aligned to the brand brief
- Confirm that every enhanced or generated image accurately represents the physical piece, including metal color, stone shape, stone size, setting detail, and proportion
- Retain original raw captures for every delivered asset and provide them on request
Delivery & Merchandise Handling
- Deliver files to the agreed naming convention, file format, and folder structure by the agreed deadline
- Provide a per-project delivery log identifying pieces photographed, shot counts, and files delivered
- Sign for and return all merchandise received on memo, following Jean Dousset memo and chain-of-custody procedures, and reconcile pieces received against pieces returned at the close of each session
- Report any discrepancy, damage, or loss immediately
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of professional product photography experience, with a portfolio demonstrating small-object or macro work
- Demonstrated command of studio lighting for reflective and refractive surfaces such as metal and gemstones
- Proficiency with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, including color correction and retouching
- Working proficiency with AI image tools, which may include Photoshop generative fill, Midjourney, Firefly, Flux, Topaz, or comparable platforms, with examples of enhanced or generated commercial work
- Sound judgment on where AI enhancement is appropriate and where it would misrepresent a product
- Reliable delivery against deadlines and clear communication on scheduling
- Availability to work on-site in Long Island City on a recurring basis
Preferred
- Prior experience photographing jewelry, watches, or luxury goods
- Familiarity with memo, consignment, or controlled inventory environments
- Video or short-form content capture for social channels, including AI-assisted motion tools
- Experience building repeatable AI workflows or batch automation for high-volume catalog output
