Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager – Design & Drafting to lead our architectural drafting studio, manage advanced CAD/BIM workflows, and drive drafting excellence in New York City, NY. In this leadership role, you will direct a team of technical detailers and modelers, establish rigorous drafting standards, and ensure high-precision construction documents and shop drawings are delivered on schedule for complex commercial and residential projects across the NYC metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and resource-allocate a dynamic team of CAD drafters, BIM modelers, and technical detailers, driving performance and professional growth.
• Production Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end production of highly accurate architectural shop drawings, detailed construction documents, structural details, and fabrication plans.
• Standards & Quality Control: Establish, implement, and enforce studio-wide CAD/BIM modeling standards, project template libraries, standard operating procedures, and strict quality control (QC) audit processes.
• Schedule & Resource Coordination: Balance project priorities, assign drafting workloads, and coordinate studio deliverables across multiple concurrent projects to meet aggressive milestones.
• Cross-Disciplinary Technical Alignment: Collaborate closely with design architects, structural engineers, trade contractors, and project managers to resolve complex technical detailing, spatial coordination, and clash detection issues.
• Process Optimization: Integrate continuous workflow improvements, scripting, automated modeling tools, and continuous BIM technology upgrades to maximize production efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Computer-Aided Drafting & Design.
• Experience: 6+ years of progressive technical design and architectural drafting experience, with at least 2 years in a direct management or supervisory role leading drafting/BIM teams.
• Software Mastery: Advanced expertise in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Bluebeam Revu, and modern cloud collaboration environments (BIM 360 / ACC).
• Technical Acumen: Deep working knowledge of high-end architectural detailing, structural assembly systems, exterior envelope systems, and local NYC Building Codes and zoning regulations.
• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional team management capabilities, structured project coordination skills, and strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
