Job Description
Account Executive – $185K OTE – AI-Powered Specialized Vehicle & Equipment Marketplace – Remote – Stock Options
A privately-held AI-powered marketplace company that was founded in 2023 and already has customers using its platform across all 50 states is modernizing how fire departments, municipalities, and other essential-services organizations buy and sell expensive, specialized vehicles and equipment.
This 35-employee, Series A firm ($18 million total funding), which recently surpassed $100 million in annualized sales on the platform, is hiring an Account Executive to acquire and onboard new supply partners while expanding relationships with existing government and public-safety customers. This is a remote role for candidates near a major airport, with approximately 3 to 6 nights of travel per month for customer visits and major industry conferences.
Solution
The company is building the nationwide marketplace and transaction infrastructure for specialized vehicles and equipment, replacing fragmented local auctions, Facebook groups, classified ads, and manual processes with a modern end-to-end experience. Sellers can use AI-powered appraisals, nationwide marketing, secure payments, freight coordination, and transaction support, while buyers gain access to hard-to-find equipment across the country.
The results are tangible. South Farmingdale Fire Department generated more than $200,000 from three surplus apparatus sales within weeks, while Skagit County Fire District #8 sold four vehicles within roughly one month and reported achieving two to three times what it expected. The company has no venture-backed direct competitor identified in the Needs Analysis and participates in a massive, largely offline secondary market for specialized assets.
Role
- Individual contributor Account Executive role working remotely and owning a nationwide territory, with a home market developed deeply through phone, email, LinkedIn, conferences, and in-person selling. Candidates must live near a major airport and should expect 3 to 6 nights of travel per month.
- $100K base, $185K OTE at quota, plus stock options. Compensation is uncapped with a 25% accelerator on everything above target. Benefits include 100% covered medical, dental, and vision, 401(k) with employer match, unlimited PTO, a $100 monthly wellness stipend, company holidays, bi-annual team offsites, and relocation assistance.
- Quota is approximately $24 million in annualized listing value onboarded, derived from a target of roughly $2 million per month. The company does not charge sellers to list inventory and earns a 10% take rate when an asset sells. Individual listings can range from the low four figures to more than $2 million.
- This is a relationship-first, consultative sales motion into Fire Chiefs, Department Heads, Municipal Operations Leaders, Public Works leaders, county officials, and other government-agency stakeholders. Reps are expected to become trusted partners who can comfortably walk into a firehouse, build credibility face-to-face, and create repeat supply from both new and existing customers.
- The company currently has 8 AEs and plans to scale to 20+ over the next year, creating substantial room for early sellers to help shape the playbook and grow with the organization. This is true expansion hiring, with a target cadence of roughly two new AE hires per month.
- The funnel has meaningful momentum already. Approximately 60% to 65% of the current lead mix is inbound, while AEs retain ownership of building their own pipeline and developing a repeatable outbound motion. Major conferences are another important source of opportunity, including events such as FDIC with roughly 40,000 fire-service attendees.
- The upside is real: the current top performer is earning more than $300K annualized. Reps also get a field-oriented sales experience that is unusual in modern technology sales. The Head of Growth recently described flying to meet a fire chief about a $1M+ truck, getting the asset listed, and ultimately seeing it sell across state lines.
Culture
- The company publicly describes the team it is building as “curious, ambitious, low ego” and focused on solving difficult problems together, a profile that closely matches the traits the company identifies in its strongest salespeople.
- The Head of Growth captures the appeal of the sales motion: “Not many people even get to meet with their customers in person these days, let alone cl…
