Shopify Hydrogen Developer

About the Role

Must have headless storefront experience!!

We’re looking for a Shopify Developer to partner with a growing team on the design, development, and optimization of high-performing Shopify Plus experiences. This role is hands-on and strategic—ideal for someone who enjoys owning technical decisions, collaborating cross-functionally, and building scalable ecommerce solutions.

You’ll work remotely day-to-day, with monthly onsite collaboration in Detroit to align with stakeholders and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development efforts for Shopify Plus storefronts, from architecture through launch and optimization
• Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Implement custom features, integrations, and workflows aligned with business goals
• Partner closely with designers, product managers, and marketing teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure performance, accessibility, and scalability best practices across builds
• Troubleshoot complex issues and provide ongoing optimization and support
• Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and code reviews as needed

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience developing on Shopify Plus
• Strong expertise in Liquid , Shopify theme development, and customization
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend best practices
• Experience integrating third-party apps, APIs, and custom solutions
• Proven ability to lead projects independently in a freelance environment
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with distributed teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with headless or custom Shopify architectures
• Familiarity with ecommerce performance optimization and CRO
• Prior agency or fast-paced startup experience
• Experience working directly with stakeholders or clients
