The ideal candidate will bring a strong design and innovation mindset, creating and refining designs for new and existing metal or CNC-machined products, lead cross-functional projects, improve product designs for manufacturability, develop robust manufacturing methods, and work closely with suppliers to source high-quality components and services.

This is a great opportunity to join One of Long Island’s most secure and diverse manufacturers servicing a wide variety of markets with excellent growth opportunity.

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Design Engineer in Hauppauge, NY:

  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for precision metal components and assemblies.
  • Provide technical expertise in turn/mill machining centers, grinding operations, tooling, fixturing, and precision inspection methods.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing methods, routings, work instructions, setup documentation, and process controls to support efficient, repeatable production.
  • Lead projects from concept through implementation, coordinating activities across engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Design and redesign products, tooling, and processes with a strong focus on ease of manufacturing, cost effectiveness, quality, and scalability.
  • Use SolidWorks to support product and fixture design, and SolidCam to develop machining strategies and improve CNC programming efficiency.
  • Drive design innovation by exploring new materials, geometries, and machining approaches that improve product performance while reducing production complexity and cost.
  • Analyze production challenges, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput, yield, and product quality.
  • Support grinding and machining operations that require tight tolerances, fine surface finishes, and consistent process capability.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve workflow, reduce setup time, and standardize best practices.
  • Source components, raw materials, tooling, and outside services from qualified suppliers; evaluate supplier capabilities, quality, cost, and lead time.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to support prototype development, new part introduction, cost reduction, and ongoing supply continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and manufacturing efficiency.

Qualifications of the Manufacturing Design Engineer in Hauppauge, NY:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a metalworking or precision machining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of turn/mill machining centers, CNC machining practices, grinding processes, and tolerance-critical manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to design and innovate new metal or CNC-machined products, translating concepts into manufacturable, cost-effective designs.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidCam or similar platforms,
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and guide cross-functional teams through implementation and process improvement efforts.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), process development, and new product introduction.
  • Experience developing comprehensive manufacturing methods and process documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and individuals across all levels of the organization

A comprehensive benefits package will be offered which includes Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and paid time off.
