About The Role MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Lead AWS Network Engineer to join our team remotely from Virginia Beach, VA. Supporting Bluewater Cloud for the United States Navy, this role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability cloud network architectures. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, responsible for ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of cloud connectivity solutions. This position demands a hands-on engineer with a passion for reducing latency, enhancing network resilience, and applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. The Lead AWS Network Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, participate in Agile ceremonies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to support mission-critical applications and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM discipline with 12+ years of relevant IT experience
• Or an Associate’s degree with 14+ years of relevant IT experience
• Or a High School Diploma with 16+ years of relevant IT experience
• Experience in designing and managing AWS networking services such as VPC peering, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, and Endpoints
• Proficiency in networking protocols and concepts including OSI model, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and IPsec
• Must possess a DoD 8570 Computing Environment certification (e.g., Security+)
• At least an associate-level AWS certification (e.g., AWS CSAA)
• Knowledge of DoD network architecture and paradigms such as BCAP, NIPR, SIPR networks

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable AWS network architectures including VPCs, Transit Gateways, and other AWS service offerings
• Implement and manage Network ACLs, Security Groups, AWS WAF, and AWS Network Firewall to safeguard against external threats
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform/OpenTofu, ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines
• Optimize network traffic flow utilizing tools such as DISA IODYN, Elastic Load Balancing (ALB/NLB)
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborating with engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Utilize monitoring and diagnostic tools like VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, and Traffic Mirroring to identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot outages
• Maintain security compliance and ensure network architecture aligns with DoD standards and best practices
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on cloud networking strategies
