About the Role

York Solutions, LLC is seeking a Backend AI / Document Processing Engineer to build and scale a document intelligence pipeline that transforms complex benefits content into AI-ready data. The role will initially focus on document ingestion and processing before expanding into AI-driven capabilities and workflow automation.

This is a remote contract opportunity with high autonomy, direct collaboration, and rapid development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Weeks 1–9

* Automate document ingestion from PDF, DOCX, HTML, and other supported formats.

* Develop intelligent chunking strategies for different document types.

* Implement quality scoring and document validation pipelines.

* Enable cross-document reference mapping.

* Build and support the document intelligence pipeline for AI-ready content.

Weeks 10–12

* Develop intent classification for action detection.

* Build workflow orchestration frameworks.

* Integrate workflows with task and reminder services.

* Create and maintain an action capability registry.

* Contribute to AI-driven workflows and intelligent automation capabilities.

Required Qualifications

* Strong Python and FastAPI development experience.

* Experience building high-performance asynchronous services.

* Experience with document processing, including OCR, PDF extraction, table parsing, and document structure understanding.

* Experience with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.

* Experience integrating LLM technologies, including LangChain, prompt engineering, and RAG pipelines.

* Experience with data pipeline architecture, including queue systems, batch processing, and quality validation.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with Unstructured.io or similar document processing frameworks.

* Knowledge of insurance and benefits document formats, including SPDs and SBCs.

* Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal or Airflow.

* Experience with HIPAA and compliance requirements.
