Job Description
Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 + meaningful equity (early-exercise options) + excellent benefits | 401k
Contract: Permanent
Start: ASAP
Location: New York City (Hybrid)
Required: 5+ years writing for a technical/developer audience, published work that travelled, ability to pull stories out of engineers (Non-Negotiable)
🚨 Non-Negotiables - Please only apply if you have ALL of the following 🚨
- 5+ years writing for a technical audience: developer media, technical content marketing, DevRel, or engineering-adjacent journalism
- Published work that actually travelled: front-page Hacker News pieces, quoted threads, posts engineers send each other, or an audience you built yourself
- The ability to sit with engineers who don’t think they’re storytellers, read a design doc or pull request, and walk away with a thesis
- Strong startup or scale-up experience, comfortable operating with zero brief, no calendar, and full autonomy
- A genuine point of view - you’d rather ship something arguable than something safe
Join a hyper-growth developer infrastructure startup that’s redefining how engineering teams run their build and CI workloads - faster, cheaper, and at serious scale. The team is small, elite, and backed by tier-one investors from Seed through Series B, with revenue growth that’s gone vertical. Now they’re extending the platform into agent infrastructure and building their own coding agent on top of it.
This is a founding content role. There’s no manager, no existing playbook, no content machine - and that’s the point. You’ll build it from scratch and own the cadence end-to-end, turning deep engineering work into a reliable stream of high-signal technical content.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build the content engine from zero - the machinery that turns launches and engineering work into content on a dependable cadence, so it actually ships
- Design how the company launches - narratives, announcements, explainers, and demos for a run of 0-to-1 products landing this year, working hand-in-hand with Product
- Turn customers into stories - find the teams who’ve cut their CI times by an order of magnitude, interview them, and write pieces other engineers instantly recognise in their own work
- Set the bar for technical content in the category - deep dives, benchmarks, teardowns, comparisons, the occasional argumentative essay. Content that hits the front page of Hacker News on merit
- Extend past the blog - video, YouTube, docs, changelog, conference talks, the company account. Whatever format the story actually needs
What They’re Looking For
- Someone deeply curious about hard infrastructure problems, even if they’re not an engineer themselves
- A writer who’s very online - dialled into Hacker News, X, and developer chatter, catching what’s moving early
- An operator who thrives on autonomy and decides for themselves what’s worth writing
- A builder who wants to define a category, not maintain a content calendar
The Package
- $150,000 - $180,000 base + meaningful equity
- Early-exercise stock options
- Medical, vision, and dental
- 401k match
- Unlimited PTO
- 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (US)
- Annual offsite
