About the job

Our mission is to optimize how the world stores its data by serving as a core driver of Google One storage subscriptions. We build innovative, end-to-end tools that help users easily monitor and optimize their cloud storage quota. One of our most critical surfaces is the Storage Management UI (SMUI), positioning us at the vital integration point between Google One, Google Photos, and the global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ecosystem. We are dedicated to creating scalable, high-performance full-stack solutions.

As an Engineer on this team, you will drive technical strategy throughout the user storage lifecycle building globally scaled features that help millions of users monitor, optimize, and secure their digital memories and legacies across devices.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user’s interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with other Google teams to launch impactful products at the intersection of Google One, Google Photos, and the OEM ecosystem.
  • Embrace and accelerate development using agentic AI coding capabilities. Utilize agentic workflows to maximize engineering velocity, code quality, and system reliability, onboard and advocate these modern practices.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve complex full-stack issues to continuously improve our product experience, system health, and overall efficiency.
  • Maintain and advocate high standards for Android development and backend integration, mentoring junior engineers and actively contributing to Google’s evolving technical standards.
