Job Description
MarTech LLC is seeking technically comfortable home-network users to evaluate Datante.com, a home-network data firewall intended to help households block advertising and tracking activity from smart TVs, streaming devices, voice assistants and other connected devices.
This assignment involves configuring DNS settings on your own home router, so previous experience accessing and changing router settings is required.
This is a paid product QA and usability assignment. We want to determine whether a technically capable consumer can understand Datante, configure it without assistance, see useful results and recover easily if something does not work.
What you’ll do
During the assignment, you will:
- Review Datante.com and explain what you think the product does before signing up.
- Explain what privacy tools, VPNs, DNS services or ad blockers you currently use.
- Sign up for Datante.
- Follow the provided router configuration instructions without live assistance.
- Change the DNS configuration on your router.
- Confirm whether protection activates successfully.
- Review the Datante dashboard and interpret what it tells you about your network.
- Identify blocked activity that you understand and activity that is confusing.
- Test a basic allow, block or protection-control workflow where instructed.
- Identify anywhere you become concerned about breaking your internet connection.
- Document anything unclear, missing or malfunctioning.
- Explain how Datante compares with alternatives such as VPNs, Pi-hole, NextDNS, AdGuard or browser ad blockers.
- Evaluate whether you would pay for the service.
You will receive instructions for restoring your previous router DNS configuration at the end of the test.
