Job Description
Senior Product Designer, App UI and UX (Contract)
***AuraLift Ai Remote, US 15 to 30 hours per week $75 to $150 per hour***THE SHORT VERSION
Your life as a galaxy. Zoom in and it becomes a solar system, then a planet, then a single moment from a single conversation on a Tuesday you had forgotten.
That is shipping today, in an app people pay for.
We think it is the floor.
AuraLift Ai is voice-first AI wellness support. A presence named LAura talks with people, out loud and in real time, about the things they do not say to anyone else. Thirteen distinct emotional states sit behind that voice. We ship Metal on iOS and shaders on Android, because in a product made almost entirely of conversation, feel is the product.
We want the world pushed far past where it is now. Then we want more worlds, because one spatial metaphor will not fit every person or every kind of pattern. And we do not want to hand-author each one, so the most interesting version of this role is the designer who builds a pipeline that co-designs new worlds with us.
We are funded. We are past the stage where a startup lives or dies. We are moving at a pace most people would find uncomfortable, and we like it that way.
You would own the design of the consumer app. iOS first, then Android, then web.

WHAT AURALIFT AI IS
An AI presence named LAura who provides structured wellness support through voice and text, on iOS, Android, and web. Not therapy, not clinical care, and not a companion chatbot. Structured support, built on evidence-based coaching frameworks, delivered as a real conversation rather than modules and worksheets.
Our users are functional adults, 18 and over, who tell everyone they are fine and know they are not thriving. They have jobs, families, and full calendars. They are not in crisis. They are running at 60 percent and have stopped noticing.
We are live on the App Store and Google Play with paying subscribers. Company headquarters: Boca Raton, FL.
THE ACTUAL DESIGN PROBLEM
Most of our surface is a conversation. That makes the standard product design toolkit, dense dashboards, feature grids, deep navigation, mostly useless here. What carries this experience instead:
Voice presence. LAura has thirteen distinct emotional states. The interface communicates which one is active without a cartoon face, without a waveform cliche, and without announcing it in words. We have moved past a single orb and are bringing in a set of designed presences. Your job is not to invent that from zero. It is to make the system coherent: which presence appears when, how one becomes another, and what the transitions mean.
The moment before someone speaks. Onboarding is a voice consultation, not a form. The single hardest screen in the product has almost nothing on it.
One design system, three runtimes. We maintain a standalone design system repo feeding native iOS, Flutter Android, and React web. Keeping one token source honest across all three, and extending it as the new architecture lands, is unglamorous, high leverage, and continuous.
The worlds. A four-level zoom that moves from macro life patterns down to individual moments. The first motif, cosmic, has shipped: galaxy, solar system, planet, surface. That is the floor, not the ceiling. We want it pushed considerably further, and then we want more motifs, because one spatial metaphor will not fit every person or every kind of pattern.
That last part is where this gets interesting. Designing motifs one at a time does not scale. The version of this role we most want is a designer who builds an agentic pipeline that can co-design and develop new worlds under human supervision, ours and yours, rather than hand-authoring each one. We already run an internal agentic design system. Extending it to generate coherent, on-brand spatial worlds is the most ambitious thing on this roadmap and the centerpiece of the role.
Regulated affordances. This product operates under California SB 243 and comparable state laws. Certain disclosures and safety resources are legally required to appear at specific moments and in specific states. Some of these elements are locked and cannot be redesigned away. You will make compliance surfaces that do not feel like compliance surfaces. This constraint is more interesting than it sounds.
