Java Staff/Lead Engineer

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Java Staff/Lead Engineer to join our team in Downtown Toronto. This is a hands-on engineering position where you will be responsible for designing architecture and writing production code for distributed systems.

Tech Stack:

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement production-grade distributed systems.
• Develop and maintain microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect solutions for event-driven systems.
• Utilize AWS services for compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
• Support ML inference pipelines and integrations.
• Lead technical design decisions and deliver production code.

Required Skills:

• Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices.
• Proficiency in event-driven architecture.
• Extensive AWS experience.
• Experience with greenfield or zero-to-one product development.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical architecture.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot and LLM-powered development workflows.
• Comfortable working at startup speed with evolving requirements.

Strongly Preferred Skills:

• Experience with edge computing or CDN execution.
• Knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript for edge runtimes.
• Understanding of JWT/JWS, OAuth 2.0, and security platforms.
• Experience with Python and Databricks.
• Familiarity with distributed tracing and observability.
