Title - Backend Developer

Location - Austin TX

Required Skills:

Architecture & Frameworks:

• In-depth experience designing and working with n-tier architectures (UI, business logic layer, data access layer) as well as distributed architectures using integration hubs such as Data Power, Mule, or any ESB.
• Strong skills in J2EE Frameworks and architecture internals (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring-Core, Spring Transactions, etc.), including JSP, EJB, servlets, JNDI, JDBC, JMS, JTA transaction services, logging (Log4J), thread management, and development of asynchronous Java processes.

Services & Deployment:

• Experience developing REST and SOAP services using JAX-WS/RS and/or the Spring framework.
• Experience building enterprise-scale applications with end-to-end build, packaging, and deployment across application servers such as WebSphere and JBoss.

Testing & Databases:

• Experience developing comprehensive unit test cases across full-stack applications using frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Jest to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (such as Oracle or similar) and a strong understanding of database principles/SQL beyond basic data access.

Methodology & Teamwork:

• Knowledge of SDLC processes and use of application lifecycle management tools such as JIRA.
• Must have hands-on development experience in most recent projects.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and/or technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to smoothly interact with development team leadership and clients.
• Self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced Database Skills:
• Ability to write complex SQL queries using joins, subqueries, and other advanced techniques to extract desired data.
• Experience optimizing SQL queries for performance, including the use of indexes, partitioning, and other performance-tuning techniques.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug SQL problems, using profiling tools to identify performance bottlenecks and resolve query errors.
• Frontend & Leadership:
• Frontend development experience (preference for candidates with React or Angular and Node.js).
• Ability to mentor junior staff and lead technical designs.
• Experience performing code reviews and recommending automated review tools for the project.
• Collaboration & Delivery:
• Ability to collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to understand requirements that will form the core foundation for all future products.
• Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
• Passionate about building high-quality systems utilizing software implementation best practices.
• Hands-on project experience working within Agile processes.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
