Job Description
About Nexim Global
Nexim Global is an IP-native broadcast transport and live-event connectivity company. We deliver live signals for some of the world’s most demanding productions – Formula 1, the Olympic Games, UEFA Champions League, major concert tours – over our own IP network. We operate two autonomous systems (AS56786), with points of presence in New York and Milan (MIX) and a Master Control Room in each city. We are ISO 27001, 9001 and 20000-1 certified.
Our network is the product. We need an engineer who treats it that way.
The role
You will own the design, operation and growth of our IP network in the Americas: the New York PoP, peering and transit, the links to venues and data centers, the media transport layer that carries live video, and the security perimeter around all of it. You will work closely with our broadcast technicians and with the network team in Milan, and you will be the escalation point when a live feed depends on the network being right.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands both the network and what a live video stream needs from it: low jitter, predictable paths, redundancy that actually fails over, and no surprises at 20:59.
What you will do
Network operations
- Operate and grow the New York PoP: routers, switches, firewalls, transit and peering (BGP, IXP presence, route policy, RPKI/IRR hygiene)
- Design and provision connectivity to venues, stadiums, data centers, cloud and partner networks: dark fiber, wavelengths, Ethernet circuits, IP transit, tunnels
- Manage the media transport layer: SRT/RIST/Zixi gateways, multicast, QoS, traffic engineering and path diversity for live contribution and distribution
- Run monitoring, alerting and capacity planning (SNMP, streaming telemetry, flow data, latency/jitter/loss measurement); know before the client does
- Troubleshoot live incidents end to end – from venue handoff to MCR – and write clean post-incident reports
- Maintain documentation: topology, IP plan, circuit inventory, runbooks, change records
Security & compliance
- Design and maintain the security perimeter: firewalls, segmentation, VPN/remote access, DDoS mitigation, access control
- Keep the network aligned with our ISO 27001 controls and support audits
- Harden devices, manage patching and configuration backups
Engineering & automation
- Automate provisioning, config management and monitoring (Python, Ansible, NetBox or similar)
- Contribute to our internal orchestration and dashboard tools alongside the broadcast team
- Evaluate and deploy new equipment and services: media switching, SMPTE 2110/NMOS environments, cloud interconnects, 5G/bonded cellular for field events
- Support commercial proposals with network design, feasibility and cost estimates
What we are looking for
- 5+ years in network engineering with real operational ownership of a production network (ISP, carrier, data center, broadcaster, media/CDN, or enterprise WAN)
- Strong BGP and routing experience: transit/peering, route policy, traffic engineering, multi-homing, RPKI
- Solid hands-on skills on at least one major vendor (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Nokia, MikroTik) and Linux
- Understanding of what live video needs from a network: jitter, buffering, packet loss, multicast, QoS, path diversity – or the curiosity and background to learn it fast
- Experience with firewalls and network security in a regulated or certified environment
- Methodical under pressure; able to work event-driven hours and take part in an on-call rotation
- Clear written documentation and communication with non-network colleagues
- Authorized to work in the United States
Nice to have
- Experience with media transport protocols and hardware: SRT, RIST, Zixi, SMPTE 2110/2022-7, PTP, NMOS, media-aware switching
- Optical and transport experience: DWDM, wavelengths, dark fiber, carrier circuit ordering
- IXP peering experience (DE-CIX NY, NYIIX, Equinix IX or similar) and PeeringDB hygiene
- Network automation portfolio: Python, Ansible, NetBox, APIs, CI for config
- Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent
- Cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP direct connects, media services)
- Italian or Spanish language skills
Pay: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Health insurance
