Executive Assistant to Founder — Jewish Business & Media
Growth Path to Chief of Staff
MOTVOICE with James GoldmanNew York, NY — Manhattan · In PersonPart-Time: 16–24 hours/week · $70–$100/hourFull-Time Opportunity: $100,000+
Short Description
MOTVOICE is seeking an experienced, highly capable Executive Assistant to work directly with founder and host James Goldman in Manhattan.
This is not a remote position and not a traditional administrative role. We are looking for a resourceful right hand who can manage executive priorities, relationships, communications, research, scheduling, and selected personal logistics while helping build a growing Jewish media platform.
Professional experience within Jewish business, media, philanthropy, communal organizations, foundations, or related Jewish institutions is strongly preferred and will be an important consideration in hiring.
The position can begin part-time at 16–24 hours per week and has the potential to grow into a full-time, $100K+ role and potentially a broader Chief of Staff function as MOTVOICE grows.
About MOTVOICE
MOTVOICE is building a serious Jewish media platform around the people, organizations, money, ideas, leadership decisions, successes, failures, and innovations shaping Jewish communal life.
Hosted by James Goldman, MOTVOICE brings together leaders, philanthropists, founders, executives, journalists, thinkers, and organizational builders for candid conversations about what is working, what isn’t, and what could be done better.
Our pilot platform is live and continues to evolve.
We are building the organization alongside the media itself.
The Role
You will work closely and primarily in person with James Goldman and become an important operational bridge between Jim, MOTVOICE’s Podcast Producer & Editorial Director, guests, business relationships, and a distributed remote team.
A typical day could include managing Jim’s calendar, researching a foundation he wants to understand, preparing background information before a meeting, drafting correspondence from his rough thoughts, coordinating with the podcast producer, following up with an important contact, arranging transportation or dinner, and making sure decisions made earlier in the week actually get executed.
We want someone who learns how Jim thinks and increasingly anticipates what needs to happen next.
Responsibilities
Executive Support
- Manage a complex and changing executive calendar.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, calls, travel, reservations, and logistics.
- Protect Jim’s time and help prioritize competing requests.
- Maintain follow-up lists and ensure commitments do not disappear after meetings.
- Prepare Jim for meetings with relevant background, correspondence, names, and context.
- Handle sensitive information with excellent judgment and discretion.
Jewish Business & Relationship Support
- Research Jewish organizations, foundations, businesses, philanthropists, media organizations, executives, and potential relationships.
- Understand who people are, what organizations they represent, and why a relationship may matter.
- Help maintain and develop Jim’s professional network.
- Research connections between people and organizations before outreach or meetings.
- Maintain organized contact and relationship records.
- Help MOTVOICE deepen its understanding of the Jewish business, philanthropic, media, and communal ecosystem.
Writing, Research & Communication
- Turn conversations, notes, voice memos, and rough ideas into clear professional correspondence.
- Draft emails, follow-ups, meeting notes, briefs, and internal documents.
- Conduct independent research and return with concise, useful answers rather than simply links.
- Help organize information so Jim can make decisions quickly.
- Communicate professionally with senior executives, philanthropists, journalists, organizational leaders, guests, and partners.
MOTVOICE Operations
- Work closely with the Senior Podcast Producer & Editorial Director.
- Coordinate calendars between Jim, podcast guests, production personnel, and the remote team.
- Help maintain the editorial and interview schedule.
- Make sure information moves correctly between the in-person Manhattan operation and remote collaborators.
- Assist with guest communications and follow-through where appropriate.
- Help turn conversations and decisions into assigned actions and completed work.
