Remote Freelance Assistant Video & Film Editor / Editor

We’re a social impact firm focused on climate and progressive causes, seeking a remote freelance assistant editor/editor to join our team. This is an hourly role at $36/hour , with net 45 payment terms and a minimum guarantee of 15 hours/month . This posting is rolling until filled .

We’re looking for someone who wants a long-term home, enjoys a flexible environment, and is comfortable with evolving workflows in media, AI, and post-production. We’re based in the Eastern Time Zone and prefer someone there, but we also need someone who is comfortable working across time zones with our team and clients when needed.

Our work is primarily documentary in nature, with a number of episodic series projects in development. We encourage queer and BIPOC candidates to apply.

What you’ll do

• Prep assets for senior editors.
• Handle smaller edits for social, podcasts, shorts, and lighter client deliverables.
• Support YouTube and Vimeo channel growth, including evergreen social content.
• Use AI tools to help build content for us and, at times, for clients.
• Organize footage and assets, track licenses and hard drives, and support light admin.
• Help improve and simplify remote workflows.
• Join occasional shoot days as a separate media manager when needed.

What we’re looking for

• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere.
• Basic motion graphics skills.
• A film school or an editing certificate is preferred.
• Experience prepping assets for senior editors.
• Interest in AI workflows, systems, and simplifying remote production.
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
• Fluency with Slack, Google Workspace, Asana, Vimeo Pro, and YouTube.
• A proactive, creative mindset and a love of filmmaking.
• Someone excited to experiment with new film tools and emerging workflows.
• Someone who would enjoy helping revive and grow a YouTube channel that deserves more love.
• Comfort working across time zones with the team and clients.
