Job Opening: AI Software Engineer (Consultant Role)

About the Role

We are seeking hands-on AI Software Engineers to augment Goldman Sachs engineering teams. This is not a prompt-engineering or experimentation role it requires true engineering talent with proven production deployment experience.

Must-Have Skills

• Agentic AI development
• LLMs & RAG
• Strong software engineering, coding, and system design
• Data engineering, pipelines, distributed computing, persistence
• Backend engineering & low-latency optimization
• AI system architecture & production deployment
• Agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, etc.)
• MCP/server development
• AI system optimization (token, context-window, cost)

What Were Looking For

• Engineers with end-to-end production experience (not just PoCs or hackathons).
• Ability to design, build, and deploy AI systems used in real-world environments.
• Strong grasp of AI/ML fundamentals and adaptability to new frameworks.
• Candidates who are already part of an established AI practice/bench.
• Willingness to overlap with New York/Eastern Time (8 AM11 AM ET).

Not a Fit If You Are

• Only a prompt engineer or AI Ops specialist.
• Focused on traditional ML without GenAI/agentic AI exposure.
• Relying solely on bootcamps, hackathons, or lightweight AI projects.
• Dependent on AI coding assistants without understanding the implementation.
